We Welcome Dr. John Barch to the 2023 Conference!

Dr. Barch is one of our featured speakers this year! We are so appreciative to him for taking the time to attend this year's conference.

Dr. Jon Barch received his master’s degree in experimental psychology from Northern Michigan University and his PhD in Psychological & Quantitative Foundations from the University of Iowa.  Dr. Barch is currently the social and personality psychology content expert at Northern Michigan University.  For the applied workplace leadership program he teaches Effective Communication and Leadership in Diverse Workplaces.  In Psychology he teaches advanced courses in Social Cognition; Psychology of Race, Gender, & Culture; Psychology of Personality;  Motivation Theory; and Environmental Psychology.  Dr. Barch has an active experimental psychology laboratory with two programs of research.  The first is focused on reducing implicit racial & gender bias and the second aims to increase psychological wellness by facilitating experiences of autonomy, competence, optimism, relatedness, and nature exposure.  This past year Dr. Barch's research was presented at annual conferences including the Association for Psychological Science and the Society for Neuroscience.  This fall he and four NMU colleagues were awarded nearly half a million dollars from the National Science Foundation to further their psychological science research programs at NMU.
